Challenges Solved by Hybrid Adhesive Sealants

Hybrid adhesive sealants combine some of the key benefits of different technologies in a single product. They offer excellent adhesion to a range of building materials, along with lasting elasticity and good resistance to weathering and UV radiation.

One of the greatest advantages of adhesive sealants is their versatility. The same technology can tackle a variety of challenges, from sealing construction joints to bonding elements that require high initial tack or a virtually invisible finished joint.

The SIGILL range therefore includes three hybrid adhesive sealants, each designed to meet specific application requirements:

  • SIGILL Hybrid Universal 820 – when versatility matters.
  • SIGILL Hybrid Crystal 850 – when the appearance of the joint matters.
  • SIGILL Hybrid High Tack 890 – when high initial tack is essential.

SIGILL Hybrid Universal 820 – One Product, Different Surfaces and Applications

The practical challenge

On a building site, installers often work with a range of materials. One joint may be on ceramic tiles, another on metal, PVC or glass, and site conditions are not always ideal. Using a different product for every application means keeping more products on site and increases the risk of choosing the wrong one.

The solution is SIGILL Hybrid Universal 820 – a universal hybrid adhesive sealant for applications requiring a combination of reliable adhesion and elasticity, with bonding and sealing in a single product.

It offers excellent adhesion to a wide range of challenging substrates, including ABS, PVC, galvanised surfaces, glass, ceramics and marble. It is suitable for expansion joints and other construction joints on both vertical and horizontal surfaces

Another major advantage of SIGILL Hybrid Universal 820 is that it can be applied to damp surfaces and can even adhere under water. Once cured, it can be painted over, making it particularly useful when the sealed joint needs to match the final appearance of the surface.

Why choose Hybrid Universal 820?

It offers:

  • bonding and sealing in one product;
  • adhesion to a wide range of materials;
  • application to damp surfaces;
  • a paintable finish;
  • high resistance to UV radiation and weathering;
  • suitability for both interior and exterior use.

SIGILL Hybrid Crystal 850 –When Joint Performance Is Not the Only Requirement

The practical challenge

In glazing, furniture making, decorative installations and finishing work, technical performance is not the only consideration. Appearance matters too. A conventional white, grey or other coloured sealant can remain visible and affect the look of the finished product.

The solution is SIGILL Hybrid Crystal 850, a crystal-clear hybrid adhesive sealant developed for applications that require a reliable bond with minimal visual impact.

Its defining feature is its crystal-clear transparency, allowing almost invisible joints. It does not yellow over time and offers very good adhesion, flexibility and long-lasting performance.

It can also be used on wet surfaces and is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. Its good resistance to UV radiation and weathering makes it suitable for joints exposed to more demanding conditions.

It is particularly useful for glaziers, joiners, interior fit-out specialists and finishing contractors, where the appearance of the finished joint can be just as important as adhesion.

Why choose Hybrid Crystal 850?

It offers:

  • a crystal-clear finish;
  • virtually invisible joints;
  • long-lasting clarity without yellowing;
  • good adhesion and lasting flexibility;
  • application even on wet surfaces;
  • high resistance to UV radiation and weathering;
  • suitability for interior and exterior use.

SIGILL Hybrid High Tack 890 – Reducing the Need for Additional Fixing

The practical challenge

Heavier elements may require additional support while the adhesive cures.

One of the most common challenges in installation bonding is initial tack. After an element has been positioned, it may slip or move, meaning it has to be temporarily supported, mechanically fixed or held in place until the adhesive develops sufficient strength. This requires additional materials, extra work and, above all, more time.

The challenge: Fixing an item without drilling

Smaller DIY projects often raise a very practical question: how can you attach a shelf, mirror, decorative element or other fitting to a wall without drilling holes or using screws?

For DIY users, drilling means extra tools, more work, dust and permanent alterations to the surface. Drilling into ceramic tiles or other delicate surfaces is particularly inconvenient, as there is also a risk of damage.

The solution is SIGILL Hybrid High Tack 890, a high-performance hybrid adhesive sealant with exceptionally high initial tack, developed primarily for demanding installation applications.

Its initial load-bearing capacity is up to 300 kg/m², rising to up to 500 kg/10 cm² after 48 hours of curing.

This high initial tack reduces the need for additional temporary fixing in many applications. It is suitable for bonding a wide range of materials, including steel, aluminium, copper, brass, glass, wood, rigid plastics, concrete, ceramics, plasterboard, uPVC and expanded polystyrene (EPS).

Despite its high final strength, the cured joint remains flexible, allowing it to accommodate minor movement and stresses between different materials.

Why choose Hybrid High Tack 890?

It offers:

  • exceptionally high initial tack;
  • initial load-bearing capacity of up to 300 kg/m²;
  • high final load-bearing capacity;
  • less need for additional temporary fixing;
  • adhesion to a wide range of building materials;
  • a permanently flexible joint;
  • suitability for interior and exterior use.
