DECOR Egeo - natural marble

The EGEO technique allows us to achieve the appearance of a fine surface with a slightly gentle relief; the surface gets a more and more distinctive pattern when looked at from a certain angle or with a certain angle of entry of light. The barely visible pattern structure appears discrete yet very fancy like the Egeo natural marble.

When applying the ordinary EGEO technique, one shade of Marmorin is used while the more sophisticated implementation is composed of several different shades of Marmorin which together form the final aesthetical appearance.

Technique "Egeo"
Preparation and manufacturing

Preparation of surface

  1. Applying an undercoat: the surface should be dry, solid, without any oil stains and similar impurities. Ensure colour equality of the surface and apply an undercoat, if necessary, to achieve a uniform colour tone of the surface. Use white paint.
  2. Smoothing the surface: with Jubolin filler (Jubolin, P25 or P50) using a stainless smoothing trowel.
  3. Sanding the surface: removing dust particles by hoovering or a fine brush.
  4. Impregnation: with Akril emulsion (1:1).

Manufacturing process

Application of Marmorin

With a stainless smoothing trowel. Coat thickness is ~0.1-0.5 mm. The application width should be approximately 0.5- 1 m˛ or of such width that enables the application to be smoothed to a suitable thickness before drying. Length of a stroke made with a smoothing trowel should be 20-30 cm. There are hardly any edges which would remain upon the drawing of the smoothing trowel as they are simultaneously smoothed. When the first coat is dried well, apply the second coat which should resemble the first one.

Manufacture of structure

With a stainless smoothing trowel. Cover a clean smoothing trowel with a thin coat of Marmorin. Thickness of Marmorin on the smoothing trowel is ~0.5 mm. Lay the smoothing trowel gently and flat on the surface. With circular strokes, Marmorin which has been applied to the smoothing trowel is transferred slowly onto the surface in the form of irregular spots. While doing this, do not press and smooth too hard. The application of spots is usually dried well when the first coat is finished; then we can start applying the second coat of the structure (the same as the first).

Final part

When the surface is dried well, gently remove individual tips with a stainless smoothing trowel. This can also be done with fine sandpaper (granulation 200-300); while doing this, be careful not to smooth the surface. Remove dust particles.

Marmorin emulsion

Apply two coats of Marmorin emulsion with a synthetic cloth. When the final application is dried through, polish the surface with a clean synthetic cloth. Do not smooth Marmorin before applying Marmorin emulsion; thus the final appearance is a semi-gloss surface.
